Business lease

Lease a car or van through your business. There are two main types: operational lease and financial lease.

Operational lease

You pay a fixed monthly amount and the leasing company arranges almost everything: maintenance, insurance, tyres and roadside assistance. At the end you return the car. Suitable if you want predictable costs and no worries about the car.

Financial lease

You finance the purchase of a car; the car goes on your company’s balance sheet and becomes yours at the end of the contract. You arrange maintenance and insurance yourself. Suitable if you want to keep the car.

Tax and private use

Lease costs are often deductible for businesses. If you also use the car privately, an addition to taxable income (bijtelling) usually applies. The percentage depends on the car and the year it was first registered. Discuss the tax consequences with your accountant or check the Dutch Tax Administration website.

What do you need?

The leasing company usually asks for your Chamber of Commerce registration, recent figures or annual accounts and proof of identity. Start-ups sometimes get extra conditions.
